Yvonne is a mixed media textile artist based at Westbury Arts Centre, where she creates hand and machine stitched work inspired by reflection, memory, nature, and literature. Yvonne likes to work in layers, starting with a painted or hand-dyed base, then adding collaged elements - often found or salvaged fragments of vintage fabrics - before applying machine and hand stitch. Over the past year Yvonne has been experimenting more with natural dyes and eco-printing, using the results to make scarves and bags, as well as simple garments. In addition to making her own work, Yvonne organises weekly meetings of the Westbury Fabric and Fibre Guild, and engages with community projects such as the recent Connecting threads exhibitions.
