Ceramic vessels, predominantly hand thrown. My work depicts abstract landscape themes identified when exploring regional industrial and social heritage I feel links to. Painting from memories, I recall people, places and stories to inspire my work. I enjoy visiting sites and meeting new people to widen the bank of memories from which I draw when painting. I decorate each piece freehand exploring expressive and investigative mark-making techniques which culminates in a distinctive, fresh and painterly aesthetic. The spontaneous manner in which I build the stylised illustration captures themes from active memories as they flow, this spontaneous approach gives a unique energy to each piece. I try to embody the people, places, stories, emotions and times I have learnt of.
I am a member of the Buckinghamshire Craft Guild and am exhibiting at the Guild gallery for 2023 in line with their opening hours. Please check the Guild website for dates I will personally be at the gallery.
