Abstract landscapes in cold wax & oil
Abstract landscapes in oil and cold wax by Sally Sayers

I mainly work with oil paints and cold wax medium as oils provide extraordinary colour properties and adding cold wax medium allows many layers to be built up and scraped back. This technique can create incredible complexity, depth and interest to the art making process and the final image. I am passionate about colour above all else, and love to work on larger scale paintings which perhaps reflects my earlier training as a Theatre Designer. My work attempts to capture aspects of the places I have lived and loved, that intuitively emerge in my paintings in an abstract style and spontaneous mark making. Occasionally a painting can emerge quickly, but most paintings take six months to a year to complete due to the drying time needed between the layers of oil paint.
