Spend a few peaceful hours relaxing and learning a new skill. The workshops take place in Black Swan studios, formally the cow shed on Culverton farm, set in the beautiful Chiltern Hills of Buckinghamshire. Here you will also find the repair barn and gardens full of friendly chickens clucking about. The beautiful amber coloured plaster, old beams and stonework inspire creativity and a gentle mood of wellbeing. We look forward to welcoming you here.

This contemporary stitch workshop taught by Lisa Vaughan introduces you to a relaxed and playful exploration of hand embroidery.

During this informal class Lisa will introduce you to some samples of her work and show you examples of embroidery for inspiration.

Working on beautiful white linen you will learn to stitch precisely and neatly. We will learn cross stitch, stem stitch, satin stitch, couching, herringbone and fly stitch as well as experimenting with a simple running stitch.
Stitching slowly and mindfully, playing with the stitches, and forming your own colour palette enables you to experiment and develop your own style. Learning these stitches is helpful for you to be able continue a creative story at home or for the purely practical and useful skills of mending and repair.

• A4 paper Stitch Guide
• threads and oeko tex Linen base fabric.
• embroidery tools are available for your use at the studio.

Continue to Stitch Two to create your own stitch story where you will experiment with composition, appliqué and patchwork as well as continuing with hand stitch.
