52 Ken Flegg
Glass artist at GELF Studios

I started working with kiln fused glass some 10 years ago. Mainly self-taught by practice and testing, along with online training with several international glass artists. I soon realised that the main aspect of this craft that gripped my attention is the, seemingly endless, variation of form and texture produced by applying heat to glass. I find this to be exciting and enthralling. I enjoy the intricacies of kiln programming to adjust segments of heating and cooling, manipulating glass under heat, cold working to polish – resulting in a unique piece of glass art. That is a simplified explanation of the processes applied to kiln fusing and I am happy to go into more detail if the technicalities are of interest to you. If so, then why not book a multi-session workshop with me to experience for yourself the alchemy of heat and glass.
