Thread & fibre art

Rhubarb and Rose image

I am passionate about British and Japanese heritage crafts, drawing on traditional techniques to create unique and meaningful pieces. My work primarily involves the use of threads and fibres, which serve as the foundation for a variety of artisan creations. With careful attention to both function and aesthetics, I craft Dorset buttons in a range of styles. These buttons are suitable for practical purposes as well as decorative accents, reflecting the rich heritage of British textile arts. In addition to Dorset buttons, I create Temari balls, a cherished Japanese craft. Traditionally, Temari balls are given as tokens of joy and prosperity, embodying well-wishes for the recipient. Through these crafts, I aim to celebrate and share the cultural significance and artistry of both British and Japanese traditions. Although varied in origin, the finished pieces are visually attractive and versatile.
