Ceramic sculpture
Field View Studio
I have worked all my career in Animation – my experience from this helps me when sculpting, as I have an understanding of anatomy, movement and line. I try to give all my pieces a personality, an animator’s trait!
I specialise in animal sculptures, all being hand-built in stoneware clay. In some pieces I use the technique of scrffito – drawing directly into the slip before the first firing. I then paint coloured glazes into the drawn line before firing the piece for a second time.I work in ceramic stoneware. All my pieces are hand-built using the traditional coil technique. I find that my experience of animation helps me in my sculpting, as I have a good understanding of anatomy, movement and line.
This year I am exhibiting with 11 other talented artists in the delightful ‘Rothschild’ village of Wingrave, a short distance from A418 Aylesbury to Leighton Buzzard. Come and enjoy delicious refreshments, garden seating and extensive views of the Vale of Aylesbury – parking is available nearby.
There will be a wide range of lively, contemporary work by the group, including paintings, ceramics, glass art, sculpture, textiles, print making, and portraiture. We look forward to chatting about our art, answering questions and explaining/demonstrating techniques. The potter’s wheel will be busy at week-ends.
