I am a semi-abstract landscape painter painting landscapes which are of importance to me often from observation but also from memory and imagination. The aim to find quietude a state of stillness, calmness and inner quiet.
My work moves from the representational into transcendence; what is observed and what is experienced through observation. Through this work my aim is to honour the landscape and the river; their presence.
My fascination with colour and how these work together is a central theme in my painting process, plus trying to capture a sense of space. I am not sure always what will happen, but this is part of the excitement of creating and the process of playing with colour and emotions. I have no planned endings, just a beginning and a journey.
I am excited by lines I see in the landscape and how these bring calm and stillness and the drawing of lines as a meditative process for stillness and inner calm.
