Due to unforeseen circumstances this venue is CLOSED. My practice is wide ranging: I make both functional and sculptural pieces in clay, and I draw and paint.
Ideas may take a long time to lodge in my head and heart, but my making process can be fast, impulsive and intuitive. I like using what is to hand in the way of materials, and am not wedded to any particular craft discipline, although I enjoy the physicality of working with my hands:
Sparkling rocks on the mountain, grains of sand on the beach;
Soft and warm through my tiny fingers.
Mud mixed with ash,
Thick enough to model and bake in the sun,
Gift for my absent mum.
Shoreline pebbles, water-worn,
Caressing their illuminated colours
Coveting their secret drawings.
The earth of my garden,
Intimately turned and tended,
Giving and receiving.
Soil, packed and polished,
An open floor..
To dance with the wind.
And clay,
My lover,
Calling me
For another conversation with my hands.
