Ceramics

The themes of my work are the vessel as a medium for artistic expression and the infinite variations within a natural population. I have created small ‘populations’ of thrown and turned vessels, each different but each reflecting others in the group. I see in any natural group, from mountains to pebbles or fruit to people, similarities that demark a population and variations that illustrate both subtle and obvious changes created by history, hereditary, and environment.
My work is mainly thrown and turned on a wheel using a variety of different clays and techniques. But I also enjoy exploring handbuilding and decorating.
