Ceramics for home & garden
Rignalls Lodge

Fin Orrom Carr image

Hand built ceramics using coiling, slabs and homemade moulds and my own mark making tools.
The pieces grow slowly over a number of weeks, a contemplative way of working creating pieces that sit gently in the home or garden. Textures are built up with layers of slips and engobes, applied using material and paper which adds colour in random patterns.
Inspired by natural forms, shapes and textures within the landscape both urban and countryside. I am mindful of nature that we share our space with, I make pieces for the garden that hold water for birds and pollinators, or pieces for the home that bring a little of the garden inside.
The visual and tactile nature of my pieces are essential, inspired by weathered cliffs, rock pools, ancient stones, old places, trees and beautiful leaves, growth and decay.
The terraced garden, part of an old Gertrude Jekyll designed garden, now a wild nature garden will also be open to explore, home to my ceramics plus many sculptures by Mary Orrom
