Justyna Majek, also known as Yabby, is an intuitive abstract painter working primarily in acrylic and mixed media. Her practice is rooted in emotion and instinct, allowing each painting to develop organically through layered marks, texture, and gesture. Rather than working towards a fixed outcome, she responds to the surface as it evolves, using painting to uncover inner states and unspoken narratives.

Her work explores themes of isolation, sensitivity, grief, and the tension between belonging and feeling out of place. These ideas emerge intuitively through movement, rhythm, and the physical process of mark-making. Layers play a central role in her practice, with surfaces built up and reworked over time.

After many years of suppressing her creative voice, returning to painting has become both a form of expression and self-understanding. Her work embraces vulnerability, imperfection, and growth, focusing on emotional resonance as much as the journey of making.
