All materials included and no experience needed. Please note willow weaving requires an amount of manual dexterity and physical strength so isn’t great for people with hand mobility issues. It can be quite gruelling on the fingers! Do contact us before booking if you are unsure if this class is suitable for you.

It’s been a very long time coming but we are absolutely delighted to finally be able to bring you a willow basket making workshop. Jordie is a really brilliant teacher. He’s patient, extremely knowledgeable and has a gentle yet really supportive way of helping you to get the very best out of your time weaving your own willow basket. Jules went on one of his classes earlier this year and was really impressed (and she’s been on a lot of willow weaving workshops in her time!).

In this full day class we will be learning how to weave a simple handless basket, roughly 20cm/8” in diameter and 12cm/7” tall. It’s a really good size for a houseplant pot holder or fruit basket. It’s also a very manageable size to create in one day. Basket weaving is one of those handicrafts that in reality takes a lot longer than it looks like it will.

Jordie will have pre-prepared all of the willow for the class (days of soaking, checking and conditioning!) so all you need to do it turn up. He will also explain all of his pre-prep during the class for anyone wishing to take on new projects themselves in future.
