I’m an eternal learner and a career change over 20 years ago immersed me in the world of professional needlework, after gaining a place at the Royal School of Needlework. Leatherwork offered new challenges and opportunities for excellence. Moving into teaching seemed to follow naturally.
Developing an interest in using digital technology came as a surprise to someone who enjoys traditional skills. I started out creating pieces using my patterns, printed onto leather and fabric. I’ve then moved on to online tuition, with my own YouTube channel Elizabeth Bond The Smart Stitcher. I will be displaying some examples of my recent projects during Bucks Art Weeks. This past year has seen me move further into surface decoration by learning how to marble leather.
When I’m not working with leather I can be found restoring and creating textiles for churches and other establishments.
I offer private tuition in sewing and leatherwork, with courses are tailored to your needs.
