Contemporary abstract landscape painter

Caro Friend image

Caro’s work explores the emotional connection between landscape and personal experience. Inspired by nature, memory & mood, her paintings are not literal representations, but expressive responses that invite the viewer to engage intuitively.
Caro builds her paintings through layers, texture, and mark-making. This process-led approach creates depth, movement, and a sense of energy within each piece. Colour plays a central role in her practice, used to evoke atmosphere and emotion, resulting in dynamic yet balanced compositions. Caro’s work is created to be lived with — contemporary, sophisticated paintings that continue to reveal subtle details over time. Each piece offers space for interpretation, allowing the viewer to form a personal connection with the work.
Caro works from her UK studio and offers original paintings alongside commissioned pieces, collaborating closely with clients to create bespoke artworks that respond to individual spaces and ideas.
