Biography
Louise began her career working on documentary films for television but turned her fly-on-the-wall approach to still photography after having children. She is particularly interested in capturing images of people while they are off guard, quiet, in their own solitary world, against the backdrop of large cities and various foreign locations. Taking inspiration from the photographer Saul Leiter (particularly his early colour photos of New York) and Edward Hopper’s isolated interior paintings, Louise uses high vantage points, reflections or slow shutter speeds to capture the atmosphere and the story she wants to convey in her photographs. She works fast, roaming cities unobserved, in her own quiet space.
Louise prints all her own work and regularly exhibits with BAFA and Bucks Art Weeks.
