Biography
I didn’t study art formally, much to my regret, but have always loved drawing and painting since I was a child. I attended an evening art class where I tried a variety of mediums – one of which was new to me – gouache. I found I was quite good at using gouache, as you need to be patient and have a steady hand. I like the way you can easily control it, as opposed to water colours which seem to have a mind of their own! Also, if you make a mistake with gouache you can go over the lines/shapes again. I paint mainly countryside landscapes, stately homes, sunsets and animals, as these are subjects I enjoy painting. I don’t try and paint a realistic picture, but rather a stylistic version with colours kept separate and not blended. I like using bright colours too, so a lot of my pictures are of colourful subjects. I am happy to take commissions to paint landscapes/buildings/animals from photos you might have.
