Biography
After over 20 years designing gardens for other people and using my artist abilities to bring gardens to life, I now have time for my own art.
I am a landscape painter, my love of the natural world has been with me my whole life. As a child, being brought up on a farm and loving the outdoors, working and learning my love of plants at Hilliers Nurseries in their propogation team and then designing gardens and landscapes.
Transferring to being an artist has given me lots of opportunities to develop through courses and introduce new techniques. I began with watercolours, then added pastels to create more vibrant works and now to oils, which is giving so much more to work with. My inspiration comes from the countryside around Stony Stratford, where I have lived for over 40 years. The river Great Ouse changes daily and helps me to discover the beauty all around us. Travelling to the coast and abroad always gives me more.
With my fellow artist, Helen Abbott, we have set up an Urban Sketchers group in Milton Keynes. We meet up fortnightly at the moment, but with numbers growing fast we hope to make that weekly. It is great to meet up with others and sit quietly and sketch together and socialise afterwards with a drink and cake! All are welcome, whatever ability. To find out more go to Urban Sketchers Milton Keynes on Facebook.
