Biography
Artist (or organisation) information:
Karen Joy B.A.
abstract / intuitive painter
Originally I trained as a picture restorer, in a London studio, and I then went on to do a Fine Art Degree, actually in print making. After this I got married to a horse professional, and while my family grew up, I helped out in this business and restored paintings from home -all money was needed!!!
Once my children grew, so my yearning to paint came back and I started working with watercolour, but having gone to an acrylic workshop I was immediately hooked in this medium, I have now painted for the last 15 years, more and more seriously having my own studio ie. a piece of heaven.
I love the adaptability of acrylic, as I am a very expressive and intuitive painter, and with acrylic being a fast drying paint, I can work several layers in a session. My work is always about the landscape and the multitude of layers and depth within it. I am working more and more abstractly, allowing me to explore the different marks and colours one can create. Although sometimes I need to paint more impressionistically, I can never never tie myself to one style or thought
I exhibit in various places :-county open art weeks: art fairs and various exhibitions. I do love to be present to talk to people bot about my work but also your interests
