Biography

Asya Dudko is a figurative sculptor and visual artist whose practice blends sculpture, painting, and relief art. Born in Russia, her early life and cultural heritage profoundly shaped her artistic vision. Drawing on folklore, craftsmanship, and a deep emotional connection to nature, her work forms a distinctive visual language rich in texture, character, and quiet narrative.

Fascinated by mystery and the unknown, Asya explores contradictions in her work — elements that cannot coexist yet find harmony within her sculptures. Her recurring characters and motifs, including birds, winged figures, fish with human faces, keys, bells, and wheels, are inspired by Russian legends and fairy tales and evoke spiritual and universal ideas.

Each sculpture carries its own story, sometimes emerging intuitively during the making process. Asya works with air-drying Creative Paperclay, building expressive forms over wire armatures and finishing them with layers of acrylic and oil paint that merge sculpture with the essence of painting.

Now based in the UK, Asya holds a First-Class Honours Degree in Interior Design. She is a Full Member of the Society of Women Artists and a recipient of the John Doubleday Award and the VAA Art100 International Award. Westbury Arts Centre studio holder, Asya Dudko teaches students in Milton Keynes.
