Clare Tebboth

 

Clare’s daily walks with her dog have fuelled a fascination with the ever changing plant and bird life in the Buckinghamshire countryside and resulted in a collection of paintings documenting the natural world.

Using highly pigmented watercolours on 100% cotton paper,  each painting goes through a process of careful colour selection to ensure each has a unique colour palette of its own to match the mood, season and nature depicted.  Working expressively, using large brushes dripping with water, colours are allowed to mingle and create new and often unpredictable effects.  Her use of drawing gum providing an underlying structure to control this loose effect. More recently this has involved gilding with metal leaf to spotlight the birds often depicted in her work

Clare has exhibited with the Royal Watercolour society at the Bankside Gallery, at the Green and Stone Gallery, Chelsea, and was shortlisted for the Royal Institute of Watercolour exhibition at the Mall Galleries.
