Chris Jones

Chris Jones at work

Chris Jones: This image was one of my first portraits, and first charcoal pieces. The image was from Pinterest with no name attached. I thoroughly enjoyed working with the image and charoal.Chris Jones: A semi-abstract almost monotone image of anemones. Very effective in its overall presentation.Chris Jones: These autumnal seed heads and late flowers have been painted with a vibrant palette to represent 'the last flurry' of the year.Chris Jones: Snowdrops are so beautiful and a bouquet of them really gives the sense of spring and its contrast against the winter.Chris Jones: An Ink and Watercolour abstract. Its title reflects the tranquil element at the top of the painting leading into a very turbulent lower half which goes beyond the realms of reality.Chris Jones: My ethereal Orchids in white are much loved. They are so delicate as a flower and their white countenance gives them the feeling of 'sympathy' .Chris Jones: These fuchsias really do look like fairies, very ballerina-like too. There is a series of 3, depicting a veritable forest of fairies!Chris Jones: Inspired by a 2 day watercolour animal course delivered by Tom Shepherd. This image was a culmination of animal anatomy studies, tone, shade and techniquesChris Jones: Lake Garda is an Italian wonder. The lighting is superb for plein air painting such as this. Porto is along the coast towards BrenzoneChris Jones: Victor Hugo's exiled home in Guernsey. I painted this whilst spending a winter in Guernsey and visiting this museum house of Victor Hugo of 'Les Miserables' fame. Every room was decorated to represent the culture of the different places he had visited around the world.

Biography

I am a self-taught watercolourist although my earlier training as a Furniture Designer and Maker, has influenced me greatly. I was always drawing as a child and on leaving school, with ‘A’ Level Art under my belt, Training at the LCF in London and qualifying in the 70’s. Later, after my 2 daughters had left for university, I qualified to teach Design & Technology within Buckinghamshire. Then, In 2002, my late husband and I took early retirement to sail and enjoy watercolour painting around the Mediterranean for 15 years. All these influences in my earlier life have given me a wealth of creative knowledge and experience within my Artwork . Also, in the Spring of 2022 I was, very proudly, selected as a member of the Bucks Art Society. My love of working with watercolour has grown greatly over the past year, and where appropriate, I incorporate ink and textural effects, although new and exciting watercolour products are so vibrant and dynamic these days that the urge to incorporate them is so exciting too. My inspiration is mainly taken from ‘Nature’ and ‘The world around us’ and periodically I dabble in Semi-Abstract Art. I know as soon as I see an image that ‘Art is calling’. I also produce limited edition Giclée prints, cards, mugs and coasters of my Artwork, along with individually designed and produced bookmarks. Please be free to contact me for commissions as my subject matter is versatile.
