Biography
Viki Jenkins is a Buckinghamshire based artist, working under her artist name ‘Thread Meditations’. She creates original embroidered artworks as well as embroidery kits and workshops. Viki studied a BA(hons) in Embroidered Textiles with the Julia Caprara School of Textile Arts, graduating from Middlesex University in 2012. Her work travelled to the World of Threads exhibition in Canada the same year, as part of her degree show. She has also shown her work for many years as part of Bucks Art Weeks, a local open studios event. Her work is about sharing and celebrating an uplifting connection between self and flora through the contemplative act of stitching. Viki works with drawing and watercolours for the preparatory stages of her process, creating expressive drawings of plants and flowers that will later inform embroidered work. Her hand embroidery develops intuitively through a contemplative process of repeated stitched marks and informed colour choices.
