Biography
Painting the outdoors with vibrant colour, expressive texture and an often tangible, tactile presence is Margaret Ann’s response to capturing the memory of mindful moments in nature, transforming them into enduring ‘heart stories’. Her work reaches beyond memory, offering joyful, enduring images which evoke place, presence and emotion.
Deeply inspired by the landscape of her homes, the striking Chiltern Hills of England and the beauty of the island of Ireland where she grew up, she transforms scenes into ‘heart stories’, real or imagined.
Each painting begins with a sensory response, identifying where form meets feeling and selecting a colour palette that reflects the scene’s character – whether snow-banked drifts, soaring cliffs and rising waves, textured foliage, boulders and bark or distant hills and paths. Every element is rendered with dimensional awareness and energy. Each piece is original, aiming to uplift and connect.
Her textured, contemporary paintings invite viewers to pause, reflect and discover their own stories – past, present or imagined – within each work. Combining visual appeal with emotional resonance, her pieces serve as enduring companions to memory and imagination, bringing warmth, atmosphere and a sense of connection to any living space.
