Biography
Hello! My name is Jon Moon; I am an artist and also a musician. I work in Oils, Acrylic, mixed media and pencil – painting on Canvas, Canvas board, wood, drawing on paper, card and board.
My work is renown for its style rather than the subject matter. Being influenced by a wide range of art schools such as Colourism, Fauvism, Expressionism and surrealism, my work is characterised by the use of strong colours, unusual perspectives (often subtly changed) and a variety of subjects, including portraits, landscapes, fantasy and life studies.
I have not regularly exhibited my work, except at the annual Hughenden Art Group event in the last couple of years. The reason for this is that I have never sought an agent or gallery’s help but, frankly, large numbers of framed or unframed works take up a lot of room. Now, I am persuaded that exhibiting and selling work is a good idea. I have used Twitter / X where I have gathered a modest 3,000+ followers and am now active on Bluesky. I am seeking the help of a gallery to help me sell work. Your gallery has a great reputation and I would like to work with you.
My artistic education has mainly been through informal study combined with workshops, membership of art groups and attendance at art classes not linked to a particular academic outcome. I usually attend classes and workshops that are face to face but have also attended online workshops. The subjects covered by the workshops range from life studies through the use of different media to particular art schools such as the Romantics, Cubism, Colourists and Symbolism. Further, I am going to study for an MA in Fine Art with OCA.
Currently, I am a member of the Hughenden Art Group (HAG) and have established cooperative relationships with members of that group and the Buckinghamshire Art Society. These have given me experience in using media and techniques I had not previously used.
