Exhibition and News
My watercolours ‘Silk Bobbins, Turin Market’ and ‘Jug and Throw’ have been chosen for the 2025 Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours 213th Annual Exhibition at the Mall Galleries, London SW1, from 26 March to 5 April. My work has been selected from over 2,000 open submissions from UK and overseas for the premier showcase for watercolour painting worldwide.
Biography
I have a textile design degree from Hornsey College of Art and my career with John Lewis plc embraced textile and interior design. Since painting full-time, I have taken part in Bucks Open Studios and Art Weeks since 1998, and my watercolours have been chosen for exhibition by the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours, the Society of Women Artists, and the Royal Society of Marine Artists. My work has featured in galleries both locally and further afield, and is in private collections worldwide. My textile design career informs my work. Overseas travel has provided me with the vibrant light and colours which inspire me, as in my RI painting, ‘Silk Bobbins, Turin Market’. I always look for pattern and design in quite ordinary subjects. Watercolour is a fluid and unpredictable medium. Controlling it (or not!) makes it exciting to use and allows me to capture all these elements in my work.
