Working in several mediums, Isabel’s work connects to memories of journeys and encounters. Inspired and informed by the natural environment – mountains, lochs and seas, sensations of sound and colour, Isabel believes places and spaces remain within us. The act of painting solidifies memories and creates new spaces, imaginary spaces and sometimes places of hopes and dreams.

Working mainly in acrylic and mixed media, my painting process is intuitive and organic with colour and mark making central. It has been my experience that at the lowest parts of my life, there was an absence of colour. In reality, colour affects and transforms our living experience both externally and internally.

Recent prints are monotypes on aluminium panels, based on memories of visiting Japan’s sculpted gardens and watery landscapes.
