Biography
I paint in both oils and watercolours, mostly on site (plein air) where the subject can be experienced and captured. Often it’s the light, the subject, or the narrative that inspires the decision to paint. Sometimes it’s necessary to work in the studio when the subject requires more consideration or the weather’s not suitable.
I am a multi award winning artist with work in collections around the world. My work has been selected many times for the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolours ‘open’ exhibition, where in 2022 my painting won the James Fletcher-Watson Award for ‘best use of watercolour’ in the exhibition. I’ve exhibited with The Royal Society of Marine Artists, and had work selected for many other ‘open’ exhibitions. I teach watercolour and oil painting, and will be painting/demoing during the open studios
In 2020 I was elected a full member of the prestigious Wapping Group of Artists (WGA), a select group of 25, who paint in all weathers up and down the Thames, Thames estuary, and London https://thewappinggroupofartists.co.uk.
