Exhibition and News

A warm welcome awaits you at our Studio and garden in this delightful ‘Rothschild’ village of Wingrave, a short distance from A418 Aylesbury to Leighton Buzzard. Enjoy delicious refreshments, garden seating and extensive views of the Vale of Aylesbury – parking is available nearby, within the village.

Expect to meet a wide range of lively, contemporary work by our group of 11 artists: paintings, ceramics, glass art, sculpture, textiles, print making, and portraiture. We look forward to chatting about our art, answering questions and explaining/demonstrating techniques. The potters will be busy at week-ends!

My own mixed media acrylic paintings are vibrant and textural – painting the outdoors with positive, energetic colour and creative textures is my response to capturing and sharing the memory of many mindful moments in places I love – bringing about tangible, accessible, enduring and joyful images, some of which lean towards the abstract.

Biography

Painting the outdoors with vibrant colour, expressive texture, and an often tangible, tactile presence, Margaret Ann transforms mindful moments in nature into enduring ‘heart stories’ on canvas.  Her work reaches beyond memory, offering joyful and lasting images that hold place, presence and emotion.

Deeply influenced by the landscapes of her homes – the striking Chiltern Hills of England and the rugged beauty of the Island of Ireland where she grew up – Margaret Ann draws freely on observation, memory, her extensive photographic references and her imagination.  Her travels across Ireland and Europe with her trusty caravan continually inspire her, providing moods, motifs, and textures that recur throughout her work. The Atlantic coast, in particular, calls her back time and again, shaping the energy, rhythm and vibrant movement of her seascapes.

Each painting, reflecting a mindful moment, begins with a sensory response – identifying where form meets feeling; snowdrift banks, soaring cliffs, rising waves, open oceans, textured boulders and bark, or distant hills and winding paths are all rendered with dimensional awareness and vitality. Working in acrylics often layered over plaster base textures, she creates surfaces that invite touch as much as sight. Her love of colour shines in bold, balanced palettes that bring landscapes and seascapes vividly alive with movement, energy, and atmosphere.

Margaret Ann’s textured, contemporary paintings invite viewers to pause, reflect, and connect with their own stories – past, present, or imagined – combining visual impact with emotional resonance. Each piece becomes an enduring companion to memory and imagination, bringing warmth, atmosphere, and a sense of connection to any living space.
