Venue, Timing, Cost
Do you know someone who is being ordained? Are you looking to make a stole for a specific event or person? Would you just like to know more about making a stole in a beautiful rural location with lovely home cooked food prepared by my in house chef, and you get to meet fellow enthusiasts?
This is a one day course to show you the techniques of constructing a plain green stole. You can book a place through my website https://www.thesmartstitcher.co.uk/ourshop/cat_1707741-Courses.html
We will look at the following areas:
Fabrics and pattern matching
Adapting the pattern
Adding decoration - how and when to add decoration. (Please note you will make a plain stole on the course itself) as well as
Construction techniques, hand finishing and final pressing of your stole.
You will also receive a set of course notes
The course is aimed at beginners. We will be using Elizabeth’s stole pattern. You will leave with a completed stole, equipped to make your own in future.
The timetable for the day looks a bit like this:
9.15am Arrival, introductions and refreshments
9.30am Class starts - First sewing session
11am Coffee break tea and homemade freshly roasted coffee homemade truffles with chocolates (we have to keep your energy levels up).
11.15am Second sewing session
1pm Lunch - buffet choice of smoked salmon & hams/charcuterie and salads (no iceberg in sight)
1.30pm Third sewing session
3.30pm Afternoon tea with brownies and cookies
3.45pm Fourth and final sewing session of the day and finishing
5pm Finish and farewell
All refreshments are included in the course fee.
You will need to have a few breaks during the day and to stand up and move about. The timing and length of the breaks can be tweaked so we can carry on stitching.
Please note the suggested menu may change slightly depending on availability, allergies and dietary preferences. Please let Elizabeth know when she contacts you after purchase.
Do you need to bring anything?
Just bring yourself.
A notepad and pen.
If you have basic sewing kit - thimbles and scissors then it would be useful to bring that as well. I would advise keeping your sewing scissors for snipping thread and having an older pair of scissors for cutting the paper.
If you have a sewing machine please feel free to bring it with you (we have machines for you to use).
Please make sure you have read the terms and conditions prior to booking your course.
Classes will be following COVID guidance and track and trace.
