In a previous life I was a Senior School Art Teacher and since retirement I have been working on my own ideas and in a variety on medias. My initial training was in jewellery design, but I quickly discovered that it is fun to keep learning new skills and I have worked in clay, metal and wood. I love trees and hills, I love colour and I love design and creating shape, loosely based on what is inhabiting my world. The forming of ideas and working them through in different formats, filling sketch pads is almost more fun than reaching a conclusion. I am also lucky enough to have a studio in Normandy, where the landscape is a constant inspiration and somewhere I can experiment, or just have another glass of wine.
Drawing has always been my first love, be it in pencil or ink. Painting is really my main focus, with the odd diversion.
To quote Picasso, "Painting isn't an aesthetic operation its a form of magic designed as a mediator between this strange and hostile world and us."
