I work with glass & precious metal leaf, creating detailed images with a unique mirror-like finish. Painstaking & technically demanding, this technique results in a rich finish allowing a high level of detail. I also combine glass with traditional silversmithing to create image-based jewellery.
I'm influenced by my travels throughout Finnish Lapland, Norway, Iceland & Scotland. Recent work explores imagery inspired by Scandinavian folklore. The trees, birds, animals & beings - both real and imagined - that inhabit these places find their way into the work. I enjoy absorbing the atmosphere of remote, wild places and presenting their imagery & stories through the enigmatic medium of the 'looking glass'.
New work this year is inspired by ancient Wistman's Wood on Dartmoor. You will see framed glass art, paperweights, jewellery, prints & cards. Prices from £3.50. Studio shared with fine art landscape photographer David Quinn.
I also create bespoke mirrors & jewellery to order.
