Willow Weaving

I am fascinated by my natural environment and endlessly curious about the structures and forms that are found in my garden, the countryside, on the beach… shaped by the forces of nature and time.
I use traditional and contemporary basketmaking techniques to create form using natural materials that I have cultivated and also gathered.
My aim is to draw attention to the simple pleasure to be gained from looking at the beauty, complexity and potential of natural things.
I make a wide variety of work that includes large commissioned pieces, sculptural items, wall pieces, decorative work, garden structures, living willow, and even baskets!
Willow weaving workshops are held at my studio and other venues. Demonstrations and activities are also available for public events, and I welcome residency opportunities.
I grow my own willow on a small plantation in North Herts.
