Biography:

EDUCATION
2008 – 2009 1st Class BA (Hons) Fine Art Practice, Buckinghamshire New University (Amersham & Wycombe College)
2006 – 2008 HND Fine Art, Buckinghamshire New University (Amersham & Wycombe College)
2005 – 2006 Access Art & Design, Amersham & Wycombe College Bucks

I am really drawn to old objects, not necessarily antiques, but well worn, every day things we would all recognise, from spoons, other cutlery and household objects to tools and old oilcans. The dents and scratches on a metal surface are the marks of a life well used, giving the piece a sort of personality.

I’m not really interested in painting background – it is the formal quality of the particular subject I am painting which fascinates me… I try to portray each object as an individual, stand alone piece of work which makes the finished painting a collection of small pieces…

I paint in my favoured medium of watercolour, and underpinning the imagery in my work is the idea that familiar, prosaic objects are always fascinating; I try to highlight the everyday and common place to evoke something special and extraordinary.
