Jessica Ranieri
Art specialisms: Painting

Biography:
Sometimes reality can be overwhelming and the emotions we feel can often reflect how we view the world, making it difficult to find a sense of peace. Art is my peace, my escape. It gives me freedom to visually explore my own thoughts and manipulate them into a more positive image. It’s a beautiful form of therapy that helps aid my personal development and creates something that others can appreciate and enjoy for themselves.
My name is Jessica Ranieri, and I am an artist from Buckinghamshire. My work is predominately acrylic on canvas, and I often draw inspiration from the natural world. A common theme amongst all my original paintings is the inclusion of jellyfish and almost always exist within my creations, even if they only feature as a small part of the piece. As my paintings are meant to be a projection of the inside of my mind, these jellyfish are a visual representation of my free-flowing thoughts and the gelatinous nature of the brain.
I achieved a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology and worked several years in various mental health settings. During this time, I discovered the amazing effect that art can have on people who are struggling to connect with reality. Having also had many of my own personal struggles with mental health, painting is the one constant that allowed me to express and control some of those negative (and positive) feelings. I strongly believe visual art can have a profound positive effect when trying to improve mental health and my hope is to add a little colour to the darkness that so many of us often find ourselves in.
