Biography:

My studio is based in the ancient chalk landscape of the Chiltern Hills, bordering Wendover Woods, the inspiration for my art.

I hope to still the viewer’s mind, offer quietude and make something ephemeral, perhaps a fleeting encounter with a fox at dusk or leaves illuminated for a precious second, make you stop, linger and wonder.

‘Imaginative Realism’ allows me to combine real world observation and an illustrative, dreamscape quality. I hope you will agree that it comes together in a unique way, whilst rooted in the landscape tradition. I take inspiration from the Tonalist movement, seeking to capture light and create luminosity by building layers of glazing and using the finest translucent pigments.

The paintings on display for Bucks Art Week are mainly 12×12 inch studies in oil. My general practice focuses on large scale 5ft x5ft artworks, full of depth yet detailed, suited to clients seeking statement pieces. These larger oil paintings are currently in private collections and commissions are taken by appointment (please be aware there is a waiting list).
