Art Soul Explorer, Humanitarian and Activist Photographer

Born in Angola in 1958 into a colonial Portuguese and affluent Catholic family, Fernando’s early years were defined by a rhythmic dance between the vibrant landscapes of Angola and the historical embrace of Portugal, a journey that continued until the age of fifteen. At the tender age of 16, the decolonization of Angola plunged him into a sea of emotions. Branded as “Returned” in Portugal and “Unwanted” in Angola, his generation lost its roots. Despite losing material possessions, he embraced each loss as an opportunity for a new beginning, constantly navigating uncharted directions.

This tumultuous journey fostered a profound spiritual sensibility towards himself, humankind, and the planet.

Constantly changing schools and friendships, without a comfort zone or landmarks to cling to, Fernando became a critical observer of society and its values. Unburdened by historical or artistic labels, he followed his unpredictable instinct and the wild emotion of his inner space.

Nature became his refuge, where he found the peace elusive among fellow humans. Listening to his inner voice, and observing nature’s cycles, he allowed it to educate and shape his heart and mind.
His life is a tapestry woven between dualities—two families, two friends, two points, two houses, two cities, two countries, two continents, or two cultures.
This fast, unpredictable, nomadic, and fluid living shaped Fernando’s vision and artistic expression as a plastic artist, designer, and photographer, naturally leading him to be a multidisciplinary artist unconfined to any medium.
Walking on a fragile line between Art, Fashion, Activism, and Humanism, his trajectory converges on raising society’s awareness of the profound impact of Social Injustice and the sustainability of human activity on our planet.
