Art specialisms: Textiles

Biography:
I studied Textiles at Buckinghamshire New University and subsequently at the Royal College of Art. In the past I have sold my designs to major retailers, but now work independently to pursue a more creative and individual approach to my work.
Knit is by nature a careful process and not to be rushed. It has endless possibilities for producing original and distinctive work, lending itself well both to fluid natural forms and abstract geometric shapes. I create and sell framed original artwork: abstract landscapes, natural forms, and geometrics which will be on display during Bucks Arts Week. I also design and make products such as colourful scarves, throws, bags and cushions.
I design, knit and hand finish every piece myself. Thought, care, attention to detail, time and patience are included in all that I make. I have an interest in fine art as well as textiles………the piece that you buy is handmade and unique (although it may have brothers, sisters and cousins). I like to view knit as an accessible art form, even when it is also wearable or useful as in the case of a scarf.
I am constantly experimenting with and evolving the ideas that I am working on. My work is full of pattern and colour and I would like it to be great fun too. I work with quality yarns, mostly beautiful soft wool and cotton. It is for those who like the original and have their own sense style and adventure.
