Biography
Inspired by the solidity and variety of the built environment, Caroline’s constructed work uses both wheel-thrown and hand built elements. Some of her recent large scale work has focused on stacking and assembling large pots to create loosely columnar or totem like forms. Smaller scale work concentrates on sculptural forms that can be appreciated or used both individually and in groups. The pre-occupations of her former architectural career working with historic buildings feeds into all the work. Ceramics gives her a new opportunity to be less constrained by traditional forms, to be more expressive and above all to display her joy of working directly with the clay. Currently studying at West Dean College for a Ceramics Diploma.
