I am an artist as well as a potter. Having painted for many years, in all media, ceramics is a more recent addition to my creative life and is something I love!
I find ceramics exhilarating and totally absorbing and the more I learn the more I want to learn.
I would encourage everyone to try it wherever they can. It’s a wonderful, creative outlet and whether slab building or throwing there is a way to use clay that you can fit into your life.
Nothing is certain with clay – you never know what will turn out, whether it will survive firing is the first hurdle… then the colours – glazes are so unpredictable. Such fun!
Translating painting and colour into a 3-D object is a wonderful way to play and the results can be stunning.
