As a child I was encouraged by family members to learn to sew, knit, paint, draw and make things and carried this creativity on into my adult life.
An impulse purchase of a patchwork magazine and a good friend explaining the complexities of cathedral window, re-ignited my interest in quilting, which I hadn't pursued since my student days. My version of one of the quilts in that magazine was later published.
Once I'd re-found my passion for textiles, making bags, rugs, wristlets, wallets and other items soon followed on from the quilts. This, accompanied by my ongoing love of knitting and the making of socks and baby booties, led me to start BUTTERFLY BAZAAR . I chose the name BUTTERFLY BAZAAR because of the variety of items made, bright colours and volume of goods reminded me of colourful street market.
I have always been fascinated by the use of colour and this plays a big part of my creative process as a look at my website or a visit to my studio will demonstrate. I hope you find something that appeals.
