At Freya Jones we encourage crafty and arty exploration with a whole myriad of textures and colours to inspire and captivate. More than just a shop, we are looking forward to being able to have artists in residence and run our fabulous and popular courses again in the later part of Summer onwards. We teach Spinning, Weaving, Felting, Block Printing, Life Drawing and even more to come. There's always something going on at Freya Jones and It's always full of life and fun for professional artists and hobbyists alike.
Freya Jones has always been drawn to Art and Craft from an early age. At 16 she begun making glass jewellery and selling this through The
Obsidian Art Gallery, Jordan's Jewellers and The National Trust Shop in Aylesbury. After completing her degree at Bucks New Uni in Glass and Ceramics she became very ill. Freya suffered a pituitary gland tumour and various other conditions alongside which left her bed ridden at age 22 for a year and walking with a stick for 6 months after. Craft "saved her bacon" and she taught herself Knitting, Spinning and weaving from her bed. When she recovered enough to work again she was determined to help others through the great uplifting joy that is craft.
In 2016 Freya opened Freya Jones, a shop specialising in Spinning, Weaving and Felting. Her passion was to teach others these ancient crafts and Freya Jones became a destination for all things fluffy. In September 2020 Freya Jones moved across the road to a larger unit which allowed her to expand into Artists Supplies and a Huge Book section of exquisite Art and Craft Books.
Due to the pandemic, Freya Jones' great plans have been put on hold, but when able to do so it will once again become a centre for excellence in courses and lectures and give aspiring artists the platform to showcase their skills and talents to spring board them into their careers.
