This is my forth year taking part in Bucks Art Weeks. Over the past year I have continued to paint and draw in my garden studio and fill sketchbooks recording local landscapes from the many walks taken during lockdown. In the last year I have exhibited locally with Art in the Park, Princes Risborough and with the Buckinghamshire Art Society as part of their Centenary Exhibition at the Buckinghamshire County Museum in Aylesbury. At present my concertina sketchbooks are part of the 2021 Swire Ridgeway Arts Prize where sketchbook number 3 has been highly commended. Work can be viewed online at https://galleries.ridgewayfriends.org.uk/gallery1/index_5.html
I also have three paintings on show in the virtual exhibition 'Directions' with the Springup gallery until the 30th June. https://www.springupgallery.co.uk/main-page

I work mainly in oils and pencil creating paintings and drawings that capture the differing perspectives of landscapes I have visited or lived in. I am interested in combining real location with fragments of maps, merging physical landscape and flat space within the artwork. Morphing real places and imagined worlds. Inspiration comes from places visited, local landscapes, collected maps, aerial views, trees, leaves and forests.
Recent paintings capture local landscapes inspired from recent walks as well as places visited on past holidays. Fragments of maps are painted back into the work capturing the differing perspectives of the landscapes. Drawings refer to both the man-made and the organic by combining trees, leaves and maps together. Concertina sketchbooks record the many walks I have taken in the local landscape over the past year. The beech leaf becoming a constant reoccurring motif throughout the drawings.
Using maps and trees as my main inspiration, I create new and contorted views of the landscape where real places and imagined worlds merge. Mapping these new landscapes back onto canvas and paper I question our ongoing connection and interaction with nature and our surroundings.
I studied painting at the Royal College of Art, London and Fine Art at Norwich School of Art and Design. I have exhibited in the UK and Europe and am a member of the Buckinghamshire Art Society.
