I am a glass fusing artist ('Through the Arch' fused glass-art), working in my workshop in the small village of Weedon, Buckinghamshire.
Being a teacher and Deputy all my working life left me very little time to pursue my artistic skills as a hobby. I worked in watercolour mostly, preferring the transparency of the medium in creating landscapes. Spending time in 'arty pursuits' always remained a passion that I one day hoped to pursue.
Retiring in 2016, I took up an interest in glass fusing, training at Hatfield university on many back-to-back short courses. To say I was hooked was an understatement! I became fascinated by the vibrant qualities of glass and the depths created when layering glass. Following the purchase of my own kiln, I am enjoying glass fusing immensely, especially investigating new skills and creations with glass and kiln, and with glass reactions. Life is so full of colour and, through using the medium of glass, I am able to celebrate every one of them.
A whole range of products are produced in glass, including wall lamps, windows, clocks, garden screens, wall tiles, Shower inserts, splashbacks, bowls, wall art, glass sculptures, name-plates, spoon rests, soap dishes, bottle platters, cheese dishes, lanterns, candle holders and Christmas decorations, to name but a few.
I am excited to announce that I am hoping to be opening my studio for some one-day and half-day courses so that I can pass on the joy of glass fusing to others. Details will be found on my website soon for mid 2021, once restrictions allow and my new studio is finished.
Commissions are regularly undertaken. If you would like to see more of my work then please do look on my website, on Facebook or contact me via e-mail or my website. You are most welcome to visit me at work in my studio by arrangement and when restrictions are lifted.
